【摘要】:TheAUmethodshouldbeconsideredforvesselsthatareproventobefreeofmajorflawsordiscontinuitiesasdeterminedbyconventionaltechniques.TheAUmethodmaybeusedfordetectingmajorflawsifothermethodsaredeemedimpractical.Itisimportanttousemethodssuchasimmersionpulse-echoultrasonics(PracticeE1001)andacousticemission(PracticeE1067)toascertainthepresenceofmajorflawsbeforeproceedingwithAU.TheAUmethodisintendedalmostexclusivelyformaterialscharacterizationbyassessingthecollectiveeffectsofdisperseddefectsandsubcriticalflawpopulations.ThesearematerialaberrationsthatinfluenceAUmeasurementsandalsounderliemechanicalpropertyvariations,dynamicloadresponse,andimpactandfractureresistance.6TheAUmethodcanbeusedtoevaluatelaminatequalityusingaccesstoonlyonesurface,theusualconstraintimposedbyclosedpressurevessels.Forbestresults,theAUprobesmustbefixturedtomaintaintheprobeorientationatnormalincidencetothecurvedsurfaceofthevessel.Giventheseconstraints,thispracticedescribesaprocedureforautomatedAUscanningusingwatersquirterstoassesstheserviceabilityandreliabilityoffilament-woundpressurevessels.71.1Thispracticecoversaprocedureforacousto-ultrasonic(AU)assessmentoffilament-woundpressurevessels.Guidelinesaregivenforthedetectionofdefectstatesandflawpopulationsthatariseduringmaterialsprocessingormanufacturingoruponexposuretoaggressiveserviceenvironments.Althoughthispracticedescribesanautomatedscanningmode,similarresultscanbeobtainedwithamanualscanningmode.1.2ThisprocedurerecommendstechnicaldetailsandrulesforthereliableandreproducibleAUdetectionofdefectstatesandflawpopulations.TheAUproceduredescribedhereincanbeabasisforassessingtheserviceabilityoffilament-woundpressurevessels.1.3TheobjectiveoftheAUmethodisprimarilytheassessmentofdefectstatesanddiffuseflawpopulationsthatinfluencethemechanicalstrengthandultimatereliabilityoffilament-woundpressurevessels.TheAUapproachandprobeconfigurationaredesignedspecificallytodeterminecompositepropertiesinlateralratherthanthrough-the-thicknessdirections.1.4TheAUmethodisnotforflawdetectionintheconventionalsense.TheAUmethodismostusefulformaterialscharacterization,asexplainedinGuideE1495,whichgivestherationaleandbasictechnologyfortheAUmethod.Flawsanddiscontinuitiessuchaslargevoids,disbonds,orextendedlackofcontactofinterfacescanbefoundbyothernondestructiveexamination(NDE)methodssuchasimmersionpulse-echoultrasonics.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
