【摘要】:ThispartofIEC60793describesamethodforcharacterizingthemodalstructureofagraded-indexmultimodefibre.Thisinformationisusefulforassessingthebandwidthperformanceofafibrewhenusedwithlasersources.Withthismethod,theoutputfromafibrethatissingle-modeatthetestwavelengthexcitesthemultimodefibreundertest.Theprobespotisscannedacrosstheendfaceofthefibreundertest,andtheopticalpulsedelayisdeterminedatspecifiedoffsetpositions.Thedifferenceinopticalpulsedelaytimebetweenthefastestandslowestmodesofthefibreundertestisdetermined.Theuserspecifiestheupperandlowerlimitsofradialoffsetpositionsoverwhichtheprobefibreisscannedinordertospecifydesiredlimitsofmodalstructure.Thisstandardappliesonlytomultimode,graded-indexglass-core(categoryA1)fibres.Thetestmethodiscommonlyusedinproductionandresearchfacilities,butisnoteasilyaccomplishedinthefield.
