【摘要】:Manycharacteristicsofafiber-opticwaveguideaffectthedynamicperformance.Quantitativevaluesofcertainkeyparameters(characteristics)needtobeknown,apriori,inordertopredictorevaluatethedynamicperformanceofawaveguideforspecificconditionsofuse.Thisguideidentifiesthesekeyparametersandprovidesinformationontheirsignificanceandhowtheyaffectperformance.However,thisguidedoesnotdescribehowtheneededquantitativeinformationistobeobtained.Manufacturersoffiber-opticwaveguidescanusethisguideforcharacterizingtheirproductssuitablyforuserswhoareconcernedwithdynamicperformance.Usersoffiber-opticwaveguidescanusethisguidetodeterminethattheirwaveguidesareadequatelycharacterizedfortheirintendedapplication.1.1Thisguidecoversthekeyparametersthatdeterminethedynamicperformanceofanopticalradiationtransmittingfiberwaveguide(seeNote1).Forthepurposeofthisguide,opticalradiationiselectromagneticradiationofwavelengthsfromabout200toabout5000nm(correspondingly,frequenciesof50000cm-1to2000cm-1,andphotonenergiesof6eVto0.25eV).Note1--Typicaldesignationsofradiationtransmittingfiberwaveguidesincludeopticalwaveguide,fiber-optic,fiber-opticwaveguide,andfiber-opticradiationguide.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
